Yes, that's right! I'm officially a signed Author! Wow, it's so crazy!
So the novel I've signed is Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh, the first book in a trilogy. I'm really excited because I've never loved my main character as much as I love Naomi/Kiya. I've loved the love interests, but my MC's have never risen to such a high regard in my heart.
So, I've spoken in an earlier blog about how it happened, but I'd just like to say now how much I appreciated the Submission Editor's enthusiasm. Jessa Russo is not only the Submission's lady at Curiosity Quills but she is also an Author herself, her new novel is named "Ever". So, for her to be so excited about my novel was very flattering for me.
Now I'm ready to move forward with my book. I'm looking forward to working with CQ and creating a cover design - which at this point I have no idea what I want - editing, refining and finally printing my book.
And of course I'm going to do the traditional thank you's. My husband who puts up with my reclusive behavior when I zip of to my alternate reality, and my parents who have nourished my imagination and encouraged me to write my ideas down and more recently have helped me by reading and cleaning up my MS. Last of all, Darci who introduced me into the writer's world and thus eventually leading me to find CQ.

Writer's Therapy Blog Hop
My writer therapy is long walks. I wish it was along the beach, but Arizona is seriously lacking when it comes to those!
So, I pull out my earphones, stick my kid in her stroller and off I go around the neighborhood and to the park. It's hard in the summer, because even after dark it doesn't drop below 90, but once October is about halfway through I can go during the day again. I love to pretend to talk to my characters in my head as I walk, see what they'd think on things I pass by, or let them tell me where my WIP needs to go next. By the end I wish I could do another loop of the neighborhood so I could keep the conversation going.
I used to do it back in Australia too. It was different there though, even during the summer I could step outside at night. I would take my dogs and listen to the bush. I always felt connected to the bush - being born and raised in small towns surrounded by it - so it inspired many hopes and dreams which weaved their way into plots and stories. Many of my stories are set in the bush as a result, with main character's who have a connection with the land.
Again, those walks couldn't be long enough. I can still smell the eucalyptus on a cool autumn night. Nothing was better than that: the escape from reality into my own world of creation, surrounded by such beauty and peace. Even now while I walk in the hot, Arizona desert, I pretend I'm surrounded by the eucalyptus trees as the wind brushes by their branches whispering forgotten tales into my ears.
Yes, walking is my therapy.

Yep, that's right, Curiosity Quills wants Kiya. I'm so excited!
So it went down like this. I submitted in their search for New Adult (protagonists between 18-25yrs old) and a few days later I received a request for the whole manuscript. I was super excited, and sent it right away, and a few minutes later I received a reply saying thank you because the submission editor was anxious to read it.
I went on with my life, got 2 more requests from agents during that time. (Yeah, this is getting pretty exciting right now!) Today, I was at church, just doing my thing and chatting to my lovely friend Kelsey Knight Smith (she said I have to mention her because I need to remember her when I'm famous) when I received an email on my phone. I opened it, saw who it was from and braced myself for rejection since it had been so quick. But it WASN'T! I read it out to Kelsey and my husband, Landon, and several other passers by stopped to listen because we were getting much too loud and excited.
When I finished reading I was completely STUNNED! Kelsey claimed the job as my body guard for signings and honorary guest at movie premiers, while Landon started planning our move to somewhere with trees, grass and seasons. I couldn't stop grinning.
KIYA is on it's way world! Naomi, the main character, will knock your socks off, while all the crazy Egyptian Royals try to destroy her. You will love them, hate them, or just not quite know what to think of all the characters.

L and Z over
So it's all done. So... what did you think? Was there enough twists and turns to keep you guessing? Did you figure out that Lehoni was Taraque?
So now the big question: What the heck should I call it???
Next up I'll post the 2nd half of An Exchange including Giles' perspective, and after that a rewritten Dancing in the Athenian Rain will go up. It's sooooo much better! Donna has a lot more depth and is less hardheaded and more like I originally intended her to be.
But for now, check out the second half of An Exchange revamped, and I hope you enjoyed Lainey and Ziyah's story.

Randomness
So I just typed up a spread sheet of all the agents I've queried for Kiya. Grand total so far: 28. One I accidentally sent it to twice, another I sent an updated one to after they rejected me and they asked for a partial! HA! Anyway, that's all I felt like sharing. I'll keep soldiering on until someone wakes up and see's how awesome Kiya/Naomi is!
